I am so enjoying walking again, even if I am not at my former level. I've been doing my knee rehab exercises, not always in a single sessions, but throughout the day. Two days in a row, I went on short uphill hikes, very good for strengthening quads. Every few days, I notice an improvement in strength or flexibility. There's very little I can't do, although not all things are comfortable. I keep reminding myself to go slowly.

I got a call from my younger daughter yesterday, saying, "Mom, I'm sick, can you come over and take care of me?" I hied myself over to her place, armed with ice cream (sore throat), creamy tapioca, cherry yogurt, and two flavors of Ricola lozenges. I was so happy to be of help, and that she felt free to call me.

I dropped by the library to return an audio book and take out another. Nothing on the shelf appealed to me, so I browsed the CD section and came away with MICHAEL BOLTON: MY SECRET PASSION: THE ARIAS. What gorgeous, passionate singing! Familiar arias from Turandot, Tosca, I Pagliacci, Aida -- but also some I don't know, all sung with enormous expressivity and presence. When I was checking it out, the librarian said he used to be a rock singer (??!!). The quote on the cover is: "I didn't realize that I would become so overwhelmed by the power of this great music." Definitely something to add to my collection.

Wednesday

Wednesday is typically not a productive writing day, and today has been no exception. I think this dates from when I worked full time and spent Wednesdays doing laundry, shopping, then taking Rose to lessons and various appointments. I wrote on my laptop during her various activities, so I knew I had 2 45-minute sessions.

However, today has been enormously productive in other ways. I'm a little awed by how much I have accomplished:
Went to yoga class, with lots of knee-strengthening postures
Got a haircut
Got a Flu shot
Got my car washed and applied 2 anti-war bumper stickers on the clean bumpers
Found a holiday gift
Bought a meal for a homeless person
Made a Costco run, including a floofy bed for Oka (not sure where it will fit)
Worked on another holiday gift
Practiced piano
Washed hall rug that one of the cats peed on (and sprayed it with Nature's Miracle to discourage a repeat performance)
Bought 100 lbs kitty litter (and discussed pee problem with pet store people, no good solutions) and more hummingbird food
Bought ice cream for hardworking husband

now for some time out, and hopefully, after a quiet dinner, will feel up to opening a chapter file and noodling around...
