The most important thing is our ongoing commitment to charitable donations. We still give a certain percentage off the top, but we've shifted it toward local groups that provide food, shelter, and clothing for our neighbors. Whenever money is tight and I'm on the edge of panic, I wonder if we can "afford" to "lose" that amount, and I try to practice open-handedness. To receive, I must unclench my fist and let go. I do not truly "own" any of this; I am a steward, a conduit. I can choose to use it selfishly or for the greater good. I believe that as I pass it on, so joy and goodness will flow through me.
