I'm gleefully plowing through editorial revisions for Hastur Lord. No snippets yet, because all is in flux. So far, nothing major, just cleaning up prose, tightening dialog, clarifying character interactions. All fun stuff, and I'm at that magical place where the "under" text, those deep, resonant themes I didn't know were there, are starting to emerge.

Alas, my sciatic nerves are not happy about sitting so long. I ignore them when I can. Failing that, I pawn them off with pacing up and down a few times and promises of Pigeon Pose tomorrow morning.

Oh, and in between, I'm reading for the next Lace and Blade.

Back to work...

Yay on happy revisions.
But look after your nerves.
(I am writing L & B story. Hope to submit by late this week.)

Fabulous! I'm very much looking forward to seeing it!

Nerve unhappiness comes and goes over the years. My stomach won't tolerate anti-inflammatories, so I mostly do physical care. Yoga and Pilates are part of my normal maintenance. Sitting cross-legged or in half-lotus seems to be the most comfortable (I use the half-lotus for Quaker meeting, switching legs halfway through the hour.) I use a recliner chair for hard-copy revisions, which allows me to change position (upright/tilted, cross-legged, feet braced on footrest, sitting normally, feet tucked to one side, etc.)

The most effective preventive, alas, is not sitting too long at any one time. When I'm drafting or reading, it's not so hard to take frequent breaks, but revising seems to swallow me up for hours at a time. I've thought of setting an alarm (one that I would have to get up to turn off) but I'd only end up snarling.

The alarm sounds like a good idea. I have shoulder issues arising from a motorbike accident years and years ago, and although I can take painkillers, yoga and not spending too long at the keyboard are always the best solutions.
Take care.
