We had a mostly-dry day yesterday, during which I took the dog for a badly-needed walk. He was so happy with all the marvelous smells! Thought about sweeping all the leaf debris off the walkway from carport to house, didn't get around to it. Just as well, as there's even more now. It's been raining buckets for the last couple of hours.

I had driven to Palo Alto "over the hill" to see a dear friend, left when it had just begun raining. Decided to take the back roads sl-o-w-l-y so as to avoid rush hour traffic. No such traffic, but a downed oak branch (complete with lichen and moss) blocked the narrow 2-lane road. Fortunately, it was small enough so I could drag it to one side, thereby helping at least 2 other motorists. My adventure for today.

Currently, apologizing to dog for no walkies today, and enjoying being snug and dry.

I can't even face sweeping all the leaf debris off my living room carpet and kitchen floor! Samantha has decided that she likes the new doggy door and is celebrating by dragging in whole branches WITH leaves and dissecting them.

She also attacks my photo subjects, animate and inanimate, so no walkies for her, either.

You needing the rain, there?

Yes, very much so. We have typical California winter rainfall pattern, from Nov to May only, and for the last 3 years, below what we need to refill the reservoirs. We've had 2 summers of mandatory water conservation. So rain is good. More rain, but not all at once, is better.
