Mark Twain's definition of life
Oct. 24th, 2008 06:05 pm"One d@mned thing after another." Yep, seems to be about right.
Good news: Hand healing well, now no longer needing bandage. Bad news: strange nerve-type catchy pain across my sacrum, not spinal; then midback stiffness and pain, maybe in compensation, ack! Good news: the hot tub "therapy jets" and massage (yesterday) feel wonderful. Better today. Bad news: hot tub is leaking, so we'll have to hold off regular use (after tonight -- what better way to celebrate Shabbat) until it's fixed.
Good news: the mud room remodel is almost done, and it looks wonderful, especially the greenhouse window. Bad news: the refrigerator died. Good news: Sears is having a sale, so we get a discount plus rebate on delivery and hauling away the old one. Bad news: the new refrigerator got damaged in transit, does not work at all, and they can't bring out a replacement until Sunday. Good news: most of the frozen and perishable food is either eaten or stored in the garage chest freezer or the little office refrigerator on the porch.
Good news: I got the shell bean harvest (calypso -- medium-sized black and white "yin-yang" pattern beans, and scarlet runner -- large beautiful deep purple, almost black beans) in, shelled, and stored. Bad news: we still have buckets of apples to deal with, and I think that standing at the kitchen counter, peeling etc., was what did my back in. The counter's the wrong height for just about everyone. Good/bad news: rain expected any time now, but no sign of it yet. We need rain, but it's nice to have the extra harvest time.
Good news: I finished Chapter 26 of Hastur Lord, and it looks like I have only 3-5 to go, basically 3-4 long scenes plus transitional narrative and wrap-up. Bad news: there is none! It's all good!
