A couple of friends have called to see if we're affected by the Summit Fire. No, we're safe, thank you so much. It's some distance away. 3,000 acres and so far, 0% contained. It's not only been hot, but incredibly windy, with trees down on the roads. Not good for fire-fighting.

Prayers and sincere thanks to all who are battling it.

As of 8:00 PM it was 15% contained. It's quite far south and east of Boulder Creek (practically on top of the epicenter of the '89 Loma Prieta earthquake, in fact), and the wind is E-NE, which means the fire is moving W-SW, pretty much away from us and into the Forest of Nisene Marks state park. From here there's no sign of it, unless you count all the cars parked at the Boulder Creek and Ben Lomond fire departments--volunteers have been called up to fight the fire.

The fire incident page is at here (http://cdfdata.fire.ca.gov/incidents/incidents_details_info?incident_id=263).
