Yes!! I just sold a science fiction story, "The Price of Silence," to F & SF. It's my first sale to Gordon van Gelder, and the first to this magazine in quite a number of years. I am feeling so stoked -- as if it were my first sale, ever.

Happy happy to me!

Thank you. And yes, please do. Magazines have not fared well of late. If we want the preserve them as markets, we have to buy and read them, too!

Thank you! It's been a while since I've done much short fiction. Between Life and novel contracts, I've had little energy or time. However, one of the joys of short fiction is that I can go off and do wild, not-conducive-to-novel-career things. Which, it turns out, are very good nourishment for my muse.

I suspect that editing LACE AND BLADE got me thinking/dreaming in short story lengths again. I wrote or revised 3 of them late last year. One bounced and I'm debating whether to put it through one more rewrite or send it out again, one is still out there, and now, this sale.

Definitely one of the cool things about short fiction is that a story does not represent a year or more of work!

..waves hi..

cheers all round...

Will post when I have a pub date. This is space-opera-with-heart, a refreshing change from epic fantasy. Or not so very different, after all.

Thank you, thank you. I hope I never become so jaded that it is not a thrill to sell to such a magazine. When I was first writing, I was advised to start with the "top" market for whatever kind of story that was, even if I thought my story stood no chance. Gradually, my stories went less and less far down the list. Here I am, in dream-market land!

... guess I haven't forgotten how to write short fiction, after all . ..
