Neck update
Oct. 4th, 2005 09:32 pmI am cautiously hopeful that I've gotten this thing under control. Also, taking a proton-pump inhibitor (Protonix) seems to be -- at least temporarily -- protecting my stomach from the worst of the ibuprofen. I've gotten through 2 days of 600 mg TID without excruciating pain. Will keep on as long as I can, or until I'm confident the neck is better. I've also been consciously NOT stretching, and that has helped things calm down, too. My range of motion is improved, a good sign.
Work today, a fairly calm day, and then Costco on the way home, so I'm toast. I'll curl up in bed with a good book, currently THE AUTUMN PALACE by Kim Wilkins, an Australian writer. Warner Aspect pb, I think a freebie from the Nebula Awards Banquet last April. A fine new take on Faerie, very skillfully done, complete with a psychopathic creepo who slaughters faeries, boils them down, and uses their bones for sculptures. Characters complex and ambivalent, but ones I care about. I think I know where it's going, but can never be sure. I love it when I feel my mind just relax and go along for the ride. That means that the writer has my confidence; I'm an easy reader, so I'll ignore little faux if the payoff is solid.
Tomorrow's goals: Finish Chapter 26 of SHIELD, 5 pages of COK, piano practice, 1 hour walk. Vacuum house if inspiration, time and energy conspire to make it so.
