I thought I might take a bit of a breather after finishing 2 big projects -- The Seven-Petaled Shield and Lace and Blade. I've been playing around with finishing turning the old family VHS tapes into DVDs (half done). Major cuteness of Rose as a toddler, then watching her and Sarah grow up as the years progress. Many milestones, footage of friends and relatives now gone.

Life as in Writing Mania had other ideas.

The MZB Literary Trust approved my outline for the next Darkover book. I finished outline a couple of short stories for specific markets. In the process, I discovered a story I thought in mid-draft form, but actually complete, and sent it off to my best-guess appropriate market. Printed out what I have of Shield II (Shannivar) so I had something to do while converting tape into digital file. Got sucked in by all sorts of exciting revision thoughts...

I can put off The Question while I finish the tapes. Maybe a week or so. And then, I must face the music:

Which project do I work on first?????

I'm glad you're converting all those family videos into DVDs, those are great memories.

I just found out recently that my mother threw out all my baby videos years back, so I'm always pleased to hear of people that cherish theirs.

Oh ack! My babyhood was pre-videos, but I treasure the few things my mother saved for me. Not just for themselves, but for her care.

They were Betamax, when the VCR went out so did the tapes. She didn't keep them to convert them or anything. I have some baby pictures that my Nan sent me, and I know that my Dad has some, I don't think my mother has any.

Yep, I expect that's how it will come about. Except two of the shorts have deadlines. Not close, but it takes a lot longer to write a novel

I always feel guilty when I take "down time." LOL I need to learn to lighten up, I guess.

I find it essential to "recharge" my creative batteries... for about a day. Then the ideas start hopping around in my mind like fleas. The only cure is work immersion "flea dip."

I should probably take more time off that I do, too.
