1. First, assemble your materials and have them at room temperature: dog, hose attached to laundry faucet, nylon leash, shampoo, blower.

2. Suitably garb yourself in swim suit and plastic flip-flops. Adjust water temperature to pleasantly warm. Be sure blower is plugged in and not situated where it will get wet.

3. Secure dog to immovable object. Explain to dog that water is not toxic. Gently wet dog fur, beginning away from head.

4-23. Wet dog. Wet dog.... Stand back while dog shakes. Wet dog (you get the idea).

24. Apply shampoo, massage into fur, all the while babbling doggie happy-talk. Stand back while dog shakes.

25-42. Rinse dog. Rinse dog. Stand back while dog shakes. Rinse dog...

43. Blow-dry dog, being careful not to direct blower towards dog's ears. Stand back while dog shakes. Place dog in warm area to finish drying. Give dog a treat. Tell dog how beautiful he is.

44. Put away all equipment. TAKE SHOWER, as you will be COVERED in dog fur.

The dog stayed clean for almost 24 hours. His friend came over and they played in the dust. Fortunately, we can blower him to get most of it off.

I got to do that again this evening. Dog baths mean an extra load of laundry, the next day. ::sigh::
