Hot day!

Yesterday, it got up to 95 degrees, and today threatens to be even hotter, in the triple digits. We've closed up the house to keep the heat out and have tried to get all our outdoor stuff done -- dog walking, garden watering, etc. -- while it's still cool.

I'm okay in heat, having done kung fu in East LA for 20 years or so (and learned to tell the difference between merely being hot/sweaty/uncomfortable and on the verge of heat stroke). But Dave doesn't tolerate it well, and poor Oka, our GSD, just lies there and pants. He finished shedding out his winter coat, but there's still alot of fur. I might try a bath outside today and not bother to heat the water

If things get too hot, there's the garage, which is still refrigerator-like... or the Pacific Ocean.

A good day for writing, nice quiet activity.

We are still at 96 right now. I am one of those who doesn't do well with heat, that is one of the main reasons I moved to the coastal side of Northern California - just so I only have to deal with heat conditions for a few weeks out of the year, at most.

I'm cheating, my bedroom has a window AC unit and the rest of the house doesn't - but the windows are adjusted, blinds too and all of the furry children were put in my room to keep cool.

This morning I went to Joann's fabric and purchased what should be almost the last things necessary to install the fabric shelter for the deck. Now all I need to do is sew everything together. ::hee hee:: They didn't have enough fabric in a single color though so I got a perky green and a perky blue and with 4 panels I will have 2 of each in some configuration. The install should reduce heat to the main family room considerably since the sliders face south. Yep, I'm late.

No writing was done today - just slacking...
