A Quaker weekend
Mar. 15th, 2007 08:19 pmFriday afternoon begins the annual retreat of our local meeting. We'll all gather at the Quaker Center in Ben Lomond, which is like a summer camp in the redwoods. I've been there a few times, but never walked the labyrinth. Maybe I'll have time this year. The theme this year is "sharing our gifts." Members will lead sessions on storytelling, prayer shawl ministry, haiku, the Alternatives to Violence project, Quaker history and much more. I suspect my own participation will be sponge-like, since I will need to send off THE ALTON GIFT page proofs before I leave on Friday to make sure they get to NY on time. Maybe I'll sit and knit in the prayer shawl group; that's always nice and soothing.
Re: Sounds wonderful!
Date: 2007-03-24 11:33 pm (UTC)A good thing, too, since this last week has been filled with crises all around me. But I felt that steady, "the well is full" feeling. Tonight is a monthly potluck with the older Friends, and tomorrow is First Day, so I get recharged.
