page proofs
Mar. 10th, 2007 10:31 amPage proofs for THE ALTON GIFT arrived Thursday and I've been busily working my way through. The way I learned to do this is to go forward, then backward, then forward again. I may not have time for the third pass, since they're due back in 2 weeks. Fortunately, the book was typeset from my file, and there are very few typos -- some grammatical and formatting stuff, and the usual, "I said WHAT?" moments.
The pub date is June 2007. I haven't seen the new cover yet, but it does exist, so do not look for the one that's up on amazon.com and other places.
And then, there are moments that seem like bragging, except they are more awe than pride, when I read a line and feel moved. Or elated. Or just, wow. Not many, but they are there.

Date: 2007-03-11 01:07 am (UTC)When I got the first copy of my first book, JAYDIUM, I slept with it under my pillow. I kept paging through it, thinking, it's a real book! I wrote all those words -- I even remember changing them from what they were before! it's a real book!
Do authors get blase about seeing their work in print? I don't know; I don't think I ever will.
