I have been waging a war of persuasion with Cleopatra, the "dilute" gray tortoiseshell who is my favorite cat. Whenever I sit down at my desk, she plants herself right in front of the monitor, curls her tail neatly around her toes, softens her eyes appealingly, and purrs. Naturally, I cannot see more than a bit here and there of the screen. I have tried putting her on my lap, which makes it difficult to position my hands properly on the keyboard, or in my Inbox, where she stays for a few minutes.
Tonight, I induced her to perch on the top of my chair. She covered my ears with kitty kisses and then settled down, purring contentedly, watching (I assume) over my shoulder as little things move on the screen.
