It's amazing how different the writers are. I like what this one, Walter Dean Myers, says.

Date: 2006-12-04 05:52 pm (UTC)Yes, it's still THE ALTON GIFT. As we write, I am waiting for a call from my editor to discuss revisions-to-the-revised-version. Since the last go-round resulted in a major rewrite, I am a bit nervous. I think I did a good job, but part of the author's life seems to be alternating between thinking your work is brilliant or it's utter drek. The process, a sort of emotional whiplash, not always pleasant, but does seem to be part of the job.
Anyway, assuming all goes well, and my editor likes what I have done, we are on the schedule for June 2007. This is also subject to various shufflings that have nothing to do with the book itself. Sometimes projects will be moved up if another author is late, or so as not to compete with a major release from another publisher.
The publisher, as usual, is DAW. I have some work done on the one after that, working title THE CHILDREN OF KINGS, although we may change that. We sort of got handed it, even though it doesn't have a lot to do with the story, any more than TRAITOR'S SUN did.
