Hummingbird sighting!

I've been sitting in my favorite chair, writing, and looked up to see a hummingbird at our feeder. It's been cold (for this area), dipping below freezing the last few nights. But there they are! At least one species, Anna's hummingbird, does not migrate. We will keep food out as long as they need it. (Hope it doesn't freeze....)

One has taken up nesting in the palm just to the left of my apartment. There is this tiny little collection of greenery just inside the very top edge of the palm sheath where it opens up.

I'm pretty sure it's the same little chap who checked me out Sunday, as I mention in that days entry..

Cheeky little things, aren't they? And, I understand, ferociously protective of their territory.
