Happy TDay
Nov. 23rd, 2006 10:22 amThis is not a big holiday for me, more of an excuse to throw a dinner
party and stay off the roads. This year, I will cook fish -- steelhead
braised with onions and peppers from our garden. Also cornbread, wild
rice pilaf, tiny French green beans. Wine will be our favorite local
Burrell School Chardonnay. The fresh cranberry relish is already made,
and guests are bringing pumpkin-coconut soup, salad, and dessert.
Almost all of this can be made ahead or prepared and just popped into
oven or microwave at the last minute, so it should be pretty relaxed.
Most of the work will be setting the table. Hmmm... the fish, corn,
wild rice, cranberries and pumpkin are all native to the Americas.
Chiles are, but I think sweet peppers are Old World.
May you celebrate in whatever fashion warms your hearts and sustains
your spirits.

Date: 2006-11-23 07:17 pm (UTC)T and I were married on Thanksgiving so we celebrate on Thanksgiving regardless of the date.
Since there are only 4 of us, T and me, BBE, and T's mom we're going OUT to dinner. I intend to tip heavily so our waitperson has something to be thankful for.
We may do the same at Yule.

Date: 2006-11-27 04:53 am (UTC)I like to cook, so long as I have help with the dishwashing. We finished the last of the fish and rice tonight.
