Today is the Day Without Immigrants. I wouldn't be here if my father had not been allowed to immigrate in 1922, before the quota on Jews.

What's your immigration story?

My father was an anchor baby, as both of his parents wandered across the border without ceremony. Since they were Canadians, no one paid much attention . . .

Gotta watch those Canadians... (my mother was Quebecoise, so I know).

One branch of our family came to Georgia because they were transported from England as criminals. One branch came from the third son of one of the descendants of a German knight, whose last name was Van Zorn (lived on the river Zorn, and name changed to simply Zorn upon immigration). One branch are Scotch-Irish, which means they kept skipping from town to town. And my great-grandmother wasn't an immigrant at all, but was a member of the Cherokee tribe.
