Staying put...for now

This friend speaks my mind, although I was never active on Dreamwidth. I find LJ more conducive to conversation that say, Twitter.

I've always kind of liked the international flavor of LJ, and I have a lifetime membership, and I never liked Dreamwidth--I think the interface is ugly, and while I realize that it gives users what they wanted, to me all the constant logging and retyping of passwords and so forth felt like a least-liked aunt scolding constantly and telling me that she knows better that I do what's good for me, while breathing down my neck.

So, not moving, unless LJ becomes fallout from Russian political dynamics. (Or ours, since we're about to face an onslaught of our own above-the-law kleptocrats.)

We can hail one another across the empty reaches!

(Actually I am glad to see that a lot of people are choosing to stay it out)

Maybe this will help to revitalize LJ!

I'm staying here. I got locked out of my Dreamwidth account six years ago and customer service was useless in getting it reopened. If I move to anything more, it might be Tumblr.

Iirc, my kids migrated to DW, but I never did. My original impetus in signing up for any post-GEnie social media was to keep up with their happenings. Now kid #1 is (back) living with us (and only occasionally on FB) and kid #2 is so busy in med school, she has negative time for social media.

So I'm likely to stay here, FB, and my blog. Haven't yet explored Tumblr or Instagram. Do they support lively conversation (as Twitter does not)?

I don't know about the conversation piece when it comes to Tumblr, but I do see people using it. I'm also thinking about firing up Pinterest to support both my fantasy series and the Weird West books I'm planning to write. But I need to hunker down, do my planning for 2017, and see what social media fits into that niche.

May also need to do Pinterest for my jewelry as well...
