Nope, Amazon, not buying it
Aug. 9th, 2014 10:47 amLike many of you, I have put up some of my backlist, out of print books, in Kindle editions. This must be why Amazon has decided I'm on their list of authors to enlist in the Amazon vs Hachette struggle. Email this morning included a long, rambling letter from "Kindle Direct Publishing" about why Amazon's predatory practices -- which as far as I can tell, are aimed at creating a monopoly on the epublishing market, after which we authors will even more royally screwed.
John Scalzi explains the situation even better than I can.
All I can do is laugh. And encourage folks to buy their ebooks through Book View Cafe and other non-Amazon outlets.
Oh, and here's the letter protesting Amazon's actions against Hachette. My name's near the bottom, and I see I'm in excellent company.
