Gum surgery recovery is proceeding apace. Already, I am much more comfortable, and also feeling rising energy. I came home sore and a little shocky, but within hours, no longer felt "sick."

Today, I've been lying low, walking Oka (Dave's wonderful German Shepherd Dog) once-and-a-quarter around the block, went out to rent a DVD and take it to a friend's house, napped, wrote a little. I'm on "cold, soft foods" until dinner, and my inner child wants hot cocoa and chicken soup and tortilla strips, all forbidden. But it's now been 24 hours, so I get a hot dinner tonight. Yay!

I have a new "movie-buddy," someone else who likes to knit and watch movies. She can even knit in movie theaters, something I've never been brave enough to try! I used to be able to knit and read, if I set up the book, if the stitch was simple enough. I rented "She's The Man," a high school soccer version of TWELFTH NIGHT, suitably light and amusing, and took it to her place. She's got a biiig screen and no glare, whereas I have a sort of average sized TV and lots of glare. She plied me with Breyer's lowfat French Silk ice cream, a treat I don't often indulge in, but okay on my gums. A nice way to pass the afternoon.

I was warned that the tooth might feel loose after the surgery. So far, not a trace, and absolutely no discomfort when I bite down. All of this is auspicious.

Worked a little on SHIELD, about 2/3 through the first draft, and getting ideas on what I need to change. Giving myself permission to savor and mull over and play around and all those good creative/revision things.

So far so good, Sunday night. Swelling is a bit uncomfortable if I slack off the ibuprofen (which my tummy does not like), but I believe I am healing well. Sutures come out Wednesday, just in time for WorldCon.
