Lace and Blade
Oct. 2nd, 2007 08:48 pmI haven't written a lot about my editorial debut, captioned above, an anthology of elegant, sexy, romantic fantasy. To be released by Norilana Books on Valentine's Day 2008 as the first book in the new "Leda" imprint. I've thought, on and off over the years, that I might like to try my hand at editing. I have very definite tastes and a lot of experience giving feedback. Could I bring together and fine-tune an entire volume of the kind of stories that I love to read? I decided that for this first venture, I would make the anthology by invitation only. I wanted a very particular voice, for one thing. For another, for various reasons I had quite a short lead time and wanted stories that would need very little revision. If this volume does well, there will be more, and then I'll open (at least some slots) to outside submissions. This way, I get to focus on learning only a few things very well.
I'm now working my way through the earliest returns, as it were, and the results have been awesome. These stories will truly "let your heart soar," with imagination, with love and loyalty and courage, witty repartee and derring-do.

madrobins, sartorias, desperance, Mary Rosenblum, and Dave Smeds. Alas, the book won't be available to order until January, but I promise tantalizing peeks. When it's out, ask your bookstore to order copies -- and give them to all your sweethearts for Valentine's Day!
