Check out Dave's blog for images of our snow, especially Oka out in the field.

Not much by standards of colder realms, but our own.

All gone now. Check in tomorrow!

Even with our storm, last Saturday, by the time Al got out to shovel it was 40 above. It is marvelous to watch, the sudden changes in the weather. Nature seems to cope, pretty much, though.

We got about 3 1/2 feet of the white stuff and so still have a bunch around. The worst part is the runoff from the deep snowbanks lining the street which turns to ice about 5pm. It makes it impossible to get up the steep hill to my driveway. I've already written off a St. Patrick's Day party with friends this evening. ;-( Of course we have another storm moving in later today too. Ah well...

We're back up in the 40s, lots of rain but no more snow. It snows only about one year in five, anyway.

The asparagus seems to have weathered the snow okay, although we have far fewer spears coming up than we'd hoped. Either they're slow in poking their heads aboveground or else the gophers got 'em. If the latter, that means digging up the whole bed and replanting in wire cages. So far, the little chewers seemed to have left them alone, but you can never tell.
