Back to work
Dec. 29th, 2005 04:26 pmMy little furlough into playing around on the Sabertooth Planet is at an end. I've been feeling the time pressure of my contract commitments, and had been hoping to finish this draft in short order. But as I was chewing over a techie problem with Dave last night, he pointed out a far niftier way to do it, that accomplishes a number of things much better than my original idea. Not a fatal flaw, as they say, but one requiring more rethinking scene niceities and rewriting than I want to put in at this time. So I made notes and put it away for the nonce.
Back to the next-next Darkover book, THE CHILDREN OF KINGS, and research for revising THE SEVEN-PETALED SHIELD. Yes, it seems backwards to research after the first draft, but sometimes I need the armature in place to even know what questions to ask. With just a little push, a few days' writing, KINGS will be off and running -- we're on a secret spy mission to the Dry Towns, what can go wrong? Stay tuned.
