Socks Update
Aug. 3rd, 2010 07:45 amWhen I get my hands on wool or other animal-fiber yarns, I knit for afghans for Afghans. The garments and blankets, mostly for children, are distributed through local organizations in partnership with American Friends Service Committee, so the exact needs vary from time to time, depending on ground conditions and connections. This summer, we're knitting socks. I've sent about a dozen pairs so far.
** Summer of Sock-Knitting Update **
Earlier in July, we sent 100 pairs of socks to a women's group. Last
week, we shipped another 150 socks to a women's network of advocates
and activists. The third set of 350 pairs is on the way to shelter/
safe houses for women and children.
