Today I: helped Rose and Marcie Lovell with scotch broom abatement. (It's so cool to be able to call them that!) Then had a fabulous, inspiring Writers' Lunch with Juliette Wade and Tanja Nathanael. Finished judging a caption contest for Vonda N. McIntyre's amazing beaded sea creatures. This evening: charades with Quakers!

So what kinds of things do Quakers come up with to use in charades?

To begin with, this group has been playing charades together for years, so the skill level is pretty high. This time, we decided to allow proper names to keep things from getting too easy. If we could agree on which foreign languages to include, we'd probably play multilingually.

So... we do books, plays, movies, TV shows, sayings/quotations, instrumental musical compositions, songs and operas (the last being an argument for foreign words!) Some of the more memorable items from last night were:

"Tune in, turn on, drop out"
Ethan Frome (you can see the challenge in proper names)
Life of Brian
Running With Scissors
I Was A Male War Bride
The Federalist Papers
Pictures at an Exhibition
Carousel
"I am not a crook"
The Good Housekeeping Cookbook
The Honeymooners
and, for some reason, Bambi utterly stumped people

A few times ago, I got The Joy of Sex. That was fun!
