Dec. 15th, 2005 06:27 pmFor some reason, during this last week, the only times I've gotten on LJ, I've been too tired to see straight, let alone compose any entries. But all has been well.
I went with a friend to see THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE, having watched SHADOWLANDS at home earlier in the week while racing to finish a gift knitting project in time to mail it off. I'm such a pushover about movies. I loved it, and found it to have great heart. As for the Christian symbolism, I found that to be an artificial interpretative overlay and not inherent in the story. The themes of redemption, sacrifice for another, and selfless love are not by any means the sole province of the rabbi from Galilee, or any other single religious teaching. Anyway, there was much to delight, and I intend to please myself with it again.
I've also been writing away, mostly revising the YA novel, hoping to have it ready to set aside when my editor finally gets around to calling me about THE ALTON GIFT. I'm in the final chapter cluster, need to rearrange some material, simplify some scientific/medical stuff, move a few points to the next book and add a little. Maybe can finish this weekend, depending.
Currently reading THE LAST LIGHT OF THE SUN, by Guy Gavriel Kay. Drinking TAZO's "Wild Sweet Orange" tea. Still enjoying garden bounty in the form of daily grapefruit (which will go on for some time, as our tree is prolific), pumpkin and butternut, a few tomatoes that were picked green and ripened, persimmons from a neighbor's tree. Freezer is stocked with blackberries and a little zuccini, canned apple compote and tomato sauce in the pantry. All of this is good because Dave is becoming reluctant to eat meat (except fish).
