I've been a longtime tea lover, but mostly I drink green and herbal teas. As I've gotten older, my stomach has gotten more sensitive. I still enjoy a strong, flavorful cup of black tea (with milk) early in the day.

[livejournal.com profile] davetrow, otoh, is a confirmed coffee-drinker. Most tea is just too wimpy for him. For reasons he would undoubtedly be delighted to explain, he decided to try black tea, the more robust the better. He went to the store and came home with http://www.welshbrewtea.com/content/teaproducts.htm. It says "te l'ch croesawu i'r ty!" on the Welsh-language side.

It's strange and wonderful to find such a thing in a rural town with only 4000 people. Who knew there would be a market for Welsh tea.

And it's quite marvelous.

From Johnnies? I like their British import section near the cash registers. :)

Yes, I think so. It probably had the English-language side turned outward.

I'm not aware of a British colony in Boulder Creek and Johnnie's doesn't particularly cater to the yuppie contingent the way New Leaf does, so I'm a little curious about who buys enough British delicacies to make it worth the while. Any ideas?

We buy occasionally. I've bought Jelly Babies before, and we have a lovely ginger preserve from that area too.

Not sure. Maybe it's just others like us? Who buy occasionally.

Does your mother want to know what Jelly Babies are?

They're like gummy bears. The Tom Baker Doctor was known for offering everybody jelly babies.

Video of all the jelly baby scenes. Including one where Tom Baker threatens to kill someone with one. Though they added classical music to the background, heaven knows why.
