RAIIIN!

Our first winter storm has arrived, eager to make up for 3 years of drought and water rationing. The prediction is from 6 to 8 inches from this one storm. It's been pouring and blustering since breakfast time. Even our normally weather-impervious dog took one look and retreated back inside. Parts of our back yard resemble the Mississippi River in both color and currents. Dave has covered the grapes with heavy plastic, so we'll see if they survive. They still need a little time to ripen.

So far, no power outage, but it is an inevitability. For this, we have Generator. Mudslides are likely as well, especially in areas affected by last summer's fires. Alas, no Generator fix for them.

Meanwhile, it's lovely to be warm and dry and have a novel to write!

Seven inches so far: an inch per hour, and no signs of slowing down.

We lost power for about an hour over at Serenity last night. I was really surprised when it came back on -- I was expecting it to be out for a day or more with the violence of the rain.

Yes, we've had a few flutters, but the Generator hasn't kicked in yet. Violent is the right word. Sometimes, it seems the rain is coming horizontally.

It's now 5:30 ish and it seems to be letting up -- nope, that was just an idle hope. Here comes more wetness.

Poor Oka. I let him out to pee and he gave me such a look. It took 3 towels to dry him off. Luckily, the mud room is serving its purpose admirably.

Drive safely!
