n/o/t//k/i/n/g sick. Not the usual cold, either. Sore throat getting better only gradually, mostly feeling like I've been kicked by several mules. But, small blessing, no sniffles. And so far, lungs clear. Yay, given my history of bronchitis.
Today, a few not-get-out-able errands, then back to bed. Much as I want to "keep going," bed rest does seem to be the best thing. Sleep even better. But the day hasn't been a total loss: Managed some piano, also noodling around with turning some fragments of an attempted novel into a decent short story.
Thanks to all for well wishes. You guys are the greatest.

Date: 2009-03-30 08:27 pm (UTC)For some reason, even when I'm sick to the point of helplessness, making a little music, even for moment (plinking on the piano, fingering some guitar chords...) always makes me feel just a bit better. There's a part of my mind that goes to the same place when I make music that it goes when I manage clear, meditative prayer . So, for a moment, it's a better place I am than I was before, just for those brief notes, but it also lingers. I hope it has the same effect for you.
I'm so glad that rest seems to be the tonic you need. Keep getting well--you're a bright spot in the universe.

I played some Bach, a little Beethoven sonatina, and my new piece, a setting for "Evenstar" from LotR, moody and sweet and sweeping. Got to get my fingers moving without thought through the chord progressions so the melody can really sing. Just needs practice.
