Currently in that state of saturation -- people, food, shiny new things -- where the brain functions erratically if at all.

Some years it feels odd, being a Jew having fun at Christmas/Yule, but this year it was just fun. Maybe because we were sharing it as an American family tradition with our Thai student. We actually succeeded in keeping the present part simple -- a delightful sufficiency of books were exchanged, a few heirlooms passed on. Dave opened his gift -- a 4-waffle Belgian waffle iron -- before breakfast and cooked for us all. As it should be, says Dave's wife. There is such pleasure in watching people you love open the gifts you have made or found with great care.

Then, off to Watsonville for visit and out-to-Chinese with Dave's dad and sister. Home... NAP! A little clean up. Heat up some soup. Wait for brains to unstupefy.

Joy and good digestion to all.

My day has been mostly filled with writing, in various forms, and doing dishes for one of my housemates who had a large party yesterday and who managed to end the day yesterday with a rather wretched cold. So, I've been pitch hitting so far as dishes go for two days. I didn't realize there were so many in this house. 3 crock pots were used, 2 rice cookers and about 6 other individual cook devices. (I thought you would appreciate that part)

:::hee hee:::

Sounds like your day was nice too.
