Read-through on first of two chapter clusters complete, and feeling pleased with how it all came together. There's no point in pushing, since editor won't be in office until Monday. So I rest, and come back with clear mind.

What's next?? I've been promising myself for some time to do a bit of short fiction. Then, back to THE SEVEN-PETALED SHIELD #2, THE PROPHET OF MEKLAVAR. I think I know my way through a plot sticky that kept fouling up Chapters 4, 5, 6. Because it's one long story arc and because I have other writing commitments, I want to be well into #2 before I send #1 off to editor -- the idea is to bring the books out in some reasonable time frame. So there's the illusion of doing nothing, to be followed by many large manuscripts landing thump on editor's desk. Maybe I should warn her??

Next Darkover project will probably be completing Marion's partial ms, THE RELUCTANT KING. It contains background material for the next-in-time-sequence (most likely titled, THE CHILDREN OF KINGS) to make sense.

Sounds like you're a happy writer today. ;-)

And please send some of that softly falling rain down my way. The weatherman keeps promising we'll get some rain but for the last two months it has all passed us by. ;-(

Happy, indeed. There's a special satisfaction in actually seeing progress, not just generating thousands of words, tens of thousands of words, that all go into a holding pattern somewhere.

You can have the rain. We're about to flood away. I've heard that the most likely effect of global warming on this area will be wetter, longer winters. And it's already called "Moulder Creek"!
