Knee update

Not sure where I left the saga, but to recapitulate:

My right knee has been giving me grief since March, when I awakened to pain. I had slept on it slightly twisted and in straightening it, felt instant agony. That same knee had been injured in '94 or '95 in a martial arts accident -- 250 lbs of sparring partner got dumped on it, I heard something pop, went down in shock. Did ice, rehab like crazy, knee felt sound and painfree.

Finally, after a number of doc visits, NSAIDS, Rolf work, home exercise, PT, 2 injections, got an MRI. Yup, torn meniscus. (Despite the failure to produce a reduction click or any other clinical sign.)

So we are on for arthroscopic surgery on Friday. I am very much looking forward to having this dealt with. The knee may not be "good as new" if they have to remove all or part of the meniscus, but I hope to get a good long run of it before that catches up to me. The recovery should be short -- 2 days off the knee -- not so bad, as it will be the weekend, and I have a pile of TBR to keep me occupied -- then begin walking and rehab. I've been doing mini-squats and straight leg raises to keep my quads strong, will step them up in preparation.
