Just finished Susan Palwick's latest novel, THE NECESSARY BEGGAR, and found it moving and inspiring, a blending of sfnal elements and spiritual values, handled with exquisite balance and skill. One of the things she does so well is a layer-like delving through appearances to inner truth, the transformative powers of love and forgiveness without New Age foo-foo minimization of how painful life can be.
