Apr. 7th, 2006 10:07 amJury duty is done! The charge was battery, an incident that arose at a construction site between 2 workers from different trades ("the pavers versus the roofers," as the DA would have us see it -- we didn't). A hot August day, tempers flaring, who pushed who first. I suggested we convict both the defendant and the victim of idiocy, but alas, that was not an allowable option. In the end, we couldn't agree; some jurors felt that according to the letter of the law, battery had occurred, others thought it had but it was self defense, others that it had occurred but was not proved.
