Well, that was interesting!

We were without internet, land-line or cell phone access for most of yesterday. Not just us, several counties here. Fiber-optic cables were deliberately cut in 2 locations (south San Jose, San Carlos). No bank or credit card transactions, no 911 access either. In Santa Cruz, police (who still had radio communication) patrolled neighborhoods so that anyone needing assistance could flag them down. So far, no reports of any dire consequences, other than inconvenience. Or suspects, although A T & T has offered $100,000 reward, usual conditions.

The headline in the local paper's op-ed is "Wake Up Call." Definitely something to think about.
