Yet another excuse for lackadazical posting -- been buried under the next Lace and Blade. It's not due out until next Valentine's Day, but I like to have things done early. Lots of fudge time for the things that inevitably go wrong. The deadline for open submissions has come and gone, rejection notes (as helpful and as nice as I could make them) sent, ditto revision requests.

This anthology is shaping up very nicely, with beautiful, heart-rending stories from known pros and a few surprises from newer voices. For the first volume, I had two Spanish highwayman stories, each far too good to pass up just because someone else had that bright idea. This year it's Chinese generals. I'm amazed, amused, and delighted. (You will be, too.)

So now begins the work of formatting, tidying up, extracting author notes from authors who think they're done with the job, and massaging the whole into a coherent shape (there is indeed an art to ordering stories in an anthology, and they don't teach it in night school). This should not be as intense as the past weeks of reading have been. Wow, I might even get my own writing done.
