Yesterday, my wonderful spouse nudged me awake at 2:15 am so that I could stagger into some semblance of awakeness and get Sunanta to the airport in time for her 6 am flight. Since her final destination was Bangkok (by way of Tokyo, by way of LA), the airline insisted on 2 hours. Of course, their check-in counter didn't open until 5, which would mean 1 hour, but apparently people queue up way before that.

Off we went. The back road, twisting through the mountains, past vineyards and through forest, with an occasional moonlit vista opening out to one side. Not another soul on the road, and too late for deer. Arrived at airport in that state of disordered consciousness that feels like adequate alertness. Maneuvered our way through check in (nice lady didn't charge Sue extra, even though her suitcases were indeed a scooch over the 50 lb limit). I stayed with her in the security line until the "Ticketed Passengers Only" dire warning sign. Quick hug, off I go.

Denise Lee, bless her, had offered me crash space only a short drive away (rather than the almost-hour drive back through twisty, etc.) I read for a bit and managed another 3 hour sleep. And a nap, and a pretty-okay night last night. Clearly, from my current aimless unfocusedness, it will be a bit before I'm really back. I thought I'd eaten something "off" but it's just tummy unhappiness from broken sleep.

I did take some time to sort through the stuff she'd left: trash, clothes to recycle to charity, barely-used notebooks to stash, bedding to wash and put away... Deep cleaning of room comes later.

Now, an attempt at piano, maybe a few minutes of exercise (it's in the 90s and a bit muggy), maybe casting a glance at the Chapter Cluster Under Consideration.

Sleep tonight. Sleep is good.
