Thursday, we all went out to lunch with the departing medical assistant. I got to meet her replacement, who has the sense of humor and forthright personality to fit in very well in the office. And they need me to work Friday the 27th. So much for my fantasies of "never darken our door again, you ingrate." At one of Santa Cruz's cool bistro-type places. I had a salad with grilled prawns, strawberries, macadamia nuts, and goat cheese from one of the farms up the coast. Happy tummy.

The day before, I had spent with a friend. For her birthday, she wanted to take her dogs to the beach -- two young, rambunctious German Shepherd Dogs. So we did, and had a fine time, then went to Natural Bridges (State Park) to commune with the migrating Monarch butterflies. We lay on our backs on the wooden observation platform, watching them drift across the sky and cluster like dried leaves on the branches of the eucalyptus grove. Their flight is so different from that of birds.

Today was Thai food and massage and writing. Tomorrow is Quaker Fun Night. AKA Quakers Being Silly. Dave is helping to organize it, so it should be Sillier.
