I did something and now the user names that used to appear below the user pics on my Friends Page have gone bye-bye. I can't figure out how to undo it through the LJ topics. Anyone have any ideas? Has this happened to you?

Just in case anyone's wondering .... the problem has been occurring with the particular layout I was using. I switched to another one and presto! the user names reappeared. LJ is working on a real fix, but for now, I'm happy. I may try various new styles, so let me know how they are for you.

...but have you considered the possibility of putting Wordpress on your own domain as an alternative? I've been running a personal blog for about 5 years at hedtke.blogspot.com, but I recently started a professional blog for authors that is off of my own domain and uses WordPress, so I control the whole thing. You can even import everything from LiveJournal, I believe, which lets you make a gradual and seamless transition. It's been very easy to use and almost no more trouble then setting up a second blog using Blogger.

There's no overweaning reason you need to do this, but I think you may end up with more control and better features. Just a thought.

John, that's an interesting idea. Maybe downstream, when I am juggling fewer commitments. I like how LJ supports discussion rather than just blogging (I do that on Book View Cafe) or sound bytes (FB). Way too many excuses to not get down to work!~

Boy howdy, I sure hear you on that one. :) There are many things I ~could~ be doing that aren't this proposal and they all seem sorta important, but this is really The Thing To Do.
