A giggle or two

suricattus's blog on Living Will today. But make sure your keyboard is protected against explosions of tea, etc.
In cataloging our library, I came across a third edition of Romer's Man and the Vertebrates from 1941. Lots of old-fashioned pics of dinosaurs and the like. I paged through, flipped open to "A comparative series of skulls of fossil apes and men." They were:
A. Australopithecus
B. Pithecanthropus
C. Sinanthropus
D. Neanderthal
E. Piltdown
F. Cro-Magnon
Piltdown??? Yep. It wasn't revealed as a hoax until 1953. We're keeping the book as a reminder of academic folly.
