what's new and exciting?

We didn't make it down to LosCon for various family reasons, and the of course I had pangs of they're-all-having-fun-without-me, but not serious enough to brave 400 miles of insanity.

Talked briefly with my editor at DAW, and will be doing revisions on THE ALTON GIFT next week. Meanwhile, the next-next Darkover book, THE CHILDREN OF KINGS, is begun -- on Chapter 5. I'm also noodling around with the YA series, having had an inspiring and problem-resolving chat with Sherwood.

Plan (subject to change and whim):
1. revise-to-editorial-order THE ALTON GIFT
2. additional first draft chapters on THE CHILDREN OF KINGS
3. revise first draft THE SEVEN-PETALED SHIELD, send to trusted first reader
4. finish revising first book of YA series, send to trusted first reader
5. finish first draft THE CHILDREN OF KINGS
6. begin next SHIELD book

Timeline: 1. & 2. -- December/January
3. Feb-March
4. & 5. April-June
6. June

Priorities: THE ALTON GIFT, THE SEVEN-PETALED SHIELD, THE CHILDREN OF KINGS. Alas, since the YA series is on spec, it is relegated to play time.

I think this is reasonably do-able at my current progress, but who knows? I'm still waiting to see if I have truly bitten off more than I can handle. Stay tuned.
