I treated myself to a massage last week, by the woman who was my favorite yoga teacher (and perhaps will be again, if she opens up a class at a time I can take it). She played a wonderful CD, and I loved it so much I immediately got a copy.

CELTIC RAGAS by Chinmaya Dunster & Vidroha Jamie. Full of joy and movement, melodic yet undemanding, it doesn't assault but seduces the senses into a marvelous tone-adventure. In it went into my writing-music pile!

Oh, that's tempting.

Hmmm, that does sound nifty--I have a tower gift certificate from a student that I've been waiting to use, and that might just fit the bill.

Yep, and I played it through 3 times yesterday. The tapestry of interwoven harmonies carried me along through many pages.

I'd be curious to see if others respond to it as I did. If one of you gets it, please let me know.

I did get the CD. Just for purposes of discussion, it turns out to be too mellow for writing purposes for my ear--I seem to need more percussion and more melodic drive.

But it was fun to listen to, and I'd be glad to pass it along to someone who really likes mellow, meditational sorts of music.
